  COMMENTARY
  The night attack by the British upon Wayne's men at Paoli became known as the "Paoli Massacre". As such, it became a rallying cry for the rest of the war. "Remember Paoli" was to the fight for American independence what "Remember The Alamo" was to the fight for Texas independence not quite 60 years later.
