After the Revolution, many Original Members of the Pennsylvania Cincinnati went into politics and held positions at federal, state and local levels. Six were in Congress between 1783 and 1790, when the capitol was away from Philadelphia. Brigadier General William Irvine was in Congress for Pennsylvania in 1793, and so sat in the handsome room shown in the picture to the right.

Thomas Mifflin was Governor Of Pennsylvania from 1790 to 1799. The office of High Sheriff of Philadelphia was filled by the following Original Members:

  • Col. Francis Johnston
  • Col. Thomas Proctor
  • Lt. Col. Caleb North
